Amjad Farid Sabri (December 23, 1970  – June 22, 2016) was a Pakistani qawwal singer, son of Ghulam Farid Sabri of



the Sabri Brothers. He was assassinated on 22 June 2016 in Karachi



Born on 23 December 1970, Amjad began learning qawwali music from his father at age nine and joined his father on stage to perform in 1988 at age 12.



 He from then on remained one of the most acclaimed qawwals in the subcontinent,



and performed around the world.



On 22 June 2016, Amjad Sabri was attacked by two armed motorcyclists when he was traveling in Liaquatabad Town. The



motorcyclists opened fire at his car critically injuring Sabri, an associate and his driver. Three men including



Sabri were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Dr Rohina Hasan confirmed Sabri's death in the hospital. He was shot



twice in the head and once on the ear.
